Welcome to our first Blog Post for the 2013/2014 school
year!
We have had a great week with lots of exciting events
happening both within our class and within the school. Our week started off
with our Remembrance Day service which we held in our classroom along with the
students from Mrs. Pearen and Mrs. Daly's class. We talked about how thankful we
are to live in a safe country and how grateful we are for those people who work
hard to keep us safe.
On Tuesday we had a visit from our local Fire Fighter who taught us about fire safety, how to check to see that a smoke alarm is working properly and what to do/where to go when we hear an alarm go off!
Wednesday was a very busy day as it was double lunch day (St. Gabriel school collected 308 lunches for the people at the Ottawa Mission) and we had our first lock-down practise! We are pleased to report that our school police officer was very impressed with how quiet we were.

On Thursday we began an inquiry into medieval times – exploring
what castles are made of and who lived in them.
****Christmas Advent Project****
Our Advent-Giving Project
The students and families are invited to participate in a wonderful, hands-on project, Operation Christmas Child, directed by the Samaritans Purse organization. It involves filling a shoe box with a variety of supplies to be given to another less fortunate child living in a third-world country, to receive as their Christmas gift. Your child will be receiving an empty shoebox and brochure with all of the necessary information. Please read the brochure carefully and note the items that cannot be included. Don't forget to affix the appropriate label (boy or girl) and check off the appropriate age range box. If you wish to fill more than one box, simply jot us a note indicating how many more boxes you would like and we will send more home.
